When Michael first walked into my studio several years ago, he needed business and actor headshots. He was working as a strategic account executive in the software industry and just starting a career in the television and movie industry. Michael needed images that felt polished, authentic, and versatile. And they needed to work as both business and actor headshots. That is exactly the kind of challenge I love.

The business and actor headshots we created back then showed both his professional credibility and his creative ambitions. As business headshots they present him as confident and capable. As acting headshots, he had a variety of looks for any type of roll he would be auditioning for.

Fast forward to last month. Over the past year, Michael’s acting career began gaining momentum. He had just landed an audition in Los Angeles for a recurring role on a network television show.

BACKFIRED! He had a friend take his actor headshots.

Like most people, Michael wanted to save money. So, he had a friend with a camera create his actor headshots for him. But working with amateurs, let alone professional photographers that are not headshot specialists, always comes with a risk. The actor headshots created by his friend didn’t live up to the standards expected of a serious professional actor. That’s when Michael decided it would be best to book another actor headshot session at my Seattle headshot studio.

Michael told me he needed five new actor headshots that clearly showed his range, from comedic and approachable to serious and dramatic. And he needed the fully retouched files delivered to his agent in about four days’ time. We were able to schedule his session to take place in just two days.

Michael arrived at the studio well-prepared, bringing multiple clothing options and creative ideas. All my sessions are completely collaborative. That applies to headshots, portraits, commercial, or in any other genre I may be working. So, we took some time to map out a plan that aligned with the types of roles he’d most likely be cast. During the session, I coached him through expressions, posture, and subtle shifts in attitude, reviewing images in real time so we could fine-tune each look.

As soon as we finished the shoot, we reviewed the images on a large screen and carefully selected the five strongest shots, each one chosen with a specific casting purpose in mind. Within forty-five minutes, we had his final selects. And within forty-eight hours, his retouched actor headshots were delivered to his agent.

A 5-Star Google review

Michael later left this 5-Star Google review:

“Charlie made my renewed acting headshots a genuinely great experience. He’s fun, professional, and gives clear direction that makes it easy to relax and look like yourself on camera. The final images are excellent; clean, flattering, and exactly what you want for casting. If you’re an actor in Seattle and you want headshots that look current, cinematic, and booking-ready, Charlie is the best!”
