You’ve Got a Headshot. Why Do You Need a Business Portrait?
While a headshot is designed for making a great first impression, a portrait reveals more about you as a person and standing in your industry. The two work hand-in-hand to promote you, your brand, and your business. Here are the key differences between a headshot and a portrait.
Headshots
- Focused on the head and shoulders
- Designed to convey professionalism
- A clean background to keep attention on the subject
- Perfect for company websites and business profiles
Portraits
- Tell a story about the subject
- Often include more of the body
- More expressive surroundings and composition
- Perfect for branding, marketing, personal use

What Clients Are Saying…
“Charlie has a system that makes the whole process move very smoothly… the results were amazing photos. The hardest part was choosing just one picture, but his system even made that easier…[I] couldn’t be happier.”
Sonda Swanberg
“Warm and personable, Charlie Cotugno is an undeniably great portraitist. His insights and understanding of how phenomenal photography can positively affect one’s business place him in a category all by himself.”
Douglas Hill
“The experience was incredibly easy: he prepared me upfront with what to expect along with tips and tricks to look my best on camera, then coached me through the photo session so I felt relaxed and comfortable – which shows in my pictures!”
Ann Snow

Add a Hair and Makeup Artist
If you wear makeup, we strongly suggest you add one of our in-studio hair and makeup artists to your session. Why? Because what most people and general makeup artists think is right for headshots can look pretty bad in the final images. With decades of experience in the film editorial industries, our artists know exactly how to make sure everyone who steps in front of the camera looks their best. (Available only with the Professional Session.)
