Personal Branding Portraits
What is the difference between a personal branding portrait and a headshot?
While a headshot is designed for making a great first impression, a personal branding portrait reveals more about you as a person, your professionalism, and your standing in your industry. The two work hand-in-hand to promote you, your brand, and your business. Here are the key differences between a headshot and a portrait.
Headshots
- Focused on the head and shoulders
- Designed to convey professionalism
- A clean background to keep attention on the subject
- Perfect for company websites and business profiles
Personal Branding Portraits
- Tell a story about the subject
- Often include more of the body
- More expressive surroundings and composition
- Perfect for branding, marketing, personal use

What Clients Are Saying…
“Charlie has a system that makes the whole process move very smoothly… the results were amazing photos. The hardest part was choosing just one picture, but his system even made that easier…[I] couldn’t be happier.”
Sonda Swanberg
“Warm and personable, Charlie Cotugno is an undeniably great portraitist. His insights and understanding of how phenomenal photography can positively affect one’s business place him in a category all by himself.”
Douglas Hill
“The experience was incredibly easy: he prepared me upfront with what to expect along with tips and tricks to look my best on camera, then coached me through the photo session so I felt relaxed and comfortable – which shows in my pictures!”

The Personal Branding Photography Process
I know you’re busy and son’t have a lot of time on your hands. That’s why I keep the personal branding photography process as simple and efficient as possible while keeping a light atmosphere to create strong, natural looking images. Here’s what you can expect.
Preparation– Before your appointment, you’ll receive my Portrait Preparation Guide and a pre-session consultation.
Photoshoot– Either in my Seattle studio or on location. I provide expression and posing coaching and we review the images as they are created.
GuidedImage Selection– As soon as the photography is completed, I’ll guide you through the selection process.
Natural Retouching– Removing stray hairs, reducing wrinkles and bags under the eyes, teeth whitening, and more.
Final Delivery– Within five business days, your final images are delivered as high-resolution files. Optional Social Media Package available.
Add a Hair and Makeup Artist
If you wear makeup, we strongly suggest you add one of our in-studio hair and makeup artists to your session. Why? Because what most people and general makeup artists think is right for headshots can look pretty bad in the final images. With decades of experience in the film editorial industries, our artists know exactly how to make sure everyone who steps in front of the camera looks their best. (Available only with the Professional Session.)
