Beyond The Headshot
These supporting images can be a huge boost to your marketing.
I love it when my clients look beyond the headshot and understand how their careers and businesses will benefit with additional images. They could be more traditional portraits, images of them working with clients, or collaborating on client solutions behind the scenes.
People Want To Do Business With People
While your headshot is always your primary image for marketing and communications, additional images give prospects more insight into your personality and commitment to solving their biggest challenges. They add depth to the connection your headshot has already established. Remember, people want to do business with people, not companies!
Think about when you, either in your business or private life, are searching websites for a product or service. Your biggest concern is whether you can trust the individuals you will be working with. On top of that, what if something were to go wrong? Do you want to find someone you feel you will be able to trust? If a critical service or shipment were behind schedule, you want that one go-to person you know will put everything else aside and give you top priority.
These are the scenarios that play out in everyone’s subconscious as they search for a solution provider. Additional images that reveal a little more about your personality, show you relating to other clients, or actively working on solutions address those concerns in advance and give you an immediate edge over your competitors.
Social media followers have seen commercial photography images like the one below of my primary makeup artist, Kurumi Shulz, working with one of my clients. Images like these have brought dozens of new clients into my studio. Not many headshot photographers offer in-studio hair and makeup services, and even fewer showcase them with images in their posts or on their websites.
It is important to note that even images like these must look professional. Like your headshots, when they look amateurish, have bad lighting, and are posed incorrectly, they will not have the same potential to establish trust with your prospects as a professionally created image will.
